AMMO by Mig Jimenez A.MIG-8937 PANZER KOTE Zimmerit Tools 1:72
These specialized tools allow you to accurately replicate the distinctive Zimmerit textures on your 1/72 WWII German armored vehicle models. Used between 1943 and 1944, Zimmerit was an anti-magnetic coating applied in specific patterns to prevent enemy mines from adhering to the vehicle’s surface. With these applicators, recreating authentic Zimmerit patterns in miniature is effortless, precise, and highly realistic.
Achieve historically accurate Zimmerit textures with Panzer Kote Zimmerit Tools, the ultimate Zimmerit application tool set for scale models in 1/72, but also available in 1/35, 1/48, and 1/16.
Designed for professional-grade precision, this set includes eight specialized engraving accessories in high-quality 3D-printed resin:
- four parallel lines rollers
- two parallel lines stamps of different widths
- one waffle pattern stamp
- one square grid stamp
Also included is an ergonomic 3D-printed handle and a durable 3D-printed resin adapter head for effortless attachment. Nuts and washers used to mount the rollers are also included.
Using the same techniques applied to real WWII German armored vehicles, Panzer Kote enables modelers to recreate authentic Zimmerit patterns with ease. Whether reproducing ridge, square, or waffle patterns, this set ensures consistent, realistic finishes on 1/72 scale models.
Although they can be used with a variety of modelling putties, we recommend using epoxy putty for the best results.
For those looking to deepen their understanding of Zimmerit, AMMO’s book ZIMMERIT: The Ultimate Modeling Guide (English) A.MIG-6311 offers a wealth of historical context, application methods, and painting and weathering techniques. With several step-by-step modeling chapters, it serves as a valuable reference for easily applying realistic Zimmerit finishes.
How to use the Panzer Kote Zimmerit tools:
- Mix the epoxy putty thoroughly until both components are fully homogenized. Then, roll out a thin, even layer over the desired areas, aiming for approximately 0.4 mm thickness for 1/72 scale.
- Work in sections if the putty cures too quickly to ensure control over the texture.
- Use the roller with gentle pressure, rolling it across the surface to create the characteristic grooves. To prevent sticking, moisten your tools lightly with Enamel Odourless Thinner A.MIG-2019.
- For a more irregular texture, make a second pass with the roller.
- Use stamps for hard-to-reach areas, as rollers may not be suitable for every surface. In more complex areas, a wedge can help create individual marks.
- Combine rollers and stamps to apply Zimmerit effectively across all surfaces, regardless of irregularities.
With comfortable grip and precise control, the ergonomic handle enhances usability, making the process smooth and efficient. Ideal for both beginners and experienced modelers, Panzer Kote delivers museum-quality results with minimal effort. Perfect for historical accuracy, realism, and professional-grade finishes, this tool set is an essential addition to any WWII German modeler's toolkit.
